On Saturday, November 7th; Silver Creek celebrated their 40th anniversary and I was proud to be invited and represent our tournament and all of our supporters. Back in 2014, I wrote about my son Mike’s affinity for children and our choice of charity in a blog titled “Why We Support Children’s Charities” and this was the reason from the very beginning that we made the decision to donate proceeds from our fundraising to a charity that was dedicated to the health and well-being of children in need. Initially the golf tournament came together so quickly and the effort to pull it off was such that we didn’t have time to plan where we would donate our proceeds. In early 2010 we were fortunate to be introduced to Silver Creek as we always had it in mind to find not just a worthy charity, but also one that ticked all of the boxes ….. and Silver Creek covers every possibility.

Silver Creek’s 40th anniversary gala was held at the Famous People’s Players Theatre on Evans Avenue in south Etobicoke. It was a fabulous experience. The meal and the show were wonderful. The spectacular show by the Famous Peoples Players is performed by a cast that have lived with and significantly overcome developmental challenges …….. precisely the essence and the being of Silver Creek. In addition, the cast not only perform the show, they serve the meals and look after the guests.

It was great to meet the friends, staff, family and students (both current & graduates) from Silver Creek. Unexpected to me, the Mike Serba Tournament was presented with a plaque in recognition for our contributions over the past 6 years. This plaque represents a recognition and tribute to all of The Tournament organizers, volunteers, donors, participants and supporters.
